| 30 Aug 2005 | Cole | Any body that'd say your work is rubbish needs a few minutes with me and sweet lady brick. Opinions are like, well, let's just everybody's got one and they both stink (the opinion and the body part). If it makes you happy, and it's not hurting anyone, do it. Ignore the (expletive deleted), they're not going to leave. I really liked "Myla," it has a nice style and earthy colors. Kinda looks a little like you... cute. Keep up the great work and keep drawing! Brie TheCheeseGirl O´Reilly replies: "well aren't you the little confindence boster? =oP
i'm glad you liked Myla, she's quickly becoming one of my favorite characters. you're not the first to say she looks like me, although i don't see it. oh well.
thanks bunches for the lovely comment!"

| 22 Dec 2005 | Anonymous | Here's a suggestion for fixing Elfwood's throughput problem: Queue seems to be hovering around 2500. That means the rate of tickets being processed is roughly equal to the rate of incoming tickets. It doesn't take a mathematician to figure out that if the queue was "zapped" then turnaround time on a ticket would be a day!! So just write a script to auto-approve all tickets in the queue, let the ERB catch any noncompliant pieces out of that 2500, and go on your merry way. It would be a small sacrifice to make a lot of people happier. Brie TheCheeseGirl O´Reilly replies: "Just in case anyone cares to know, since the above person was too much of a coward to leave a real name or a valid email address, that is not how Elfwood works. Every item that you submit gets sent in the form of a ticket. From there, every ticket gets reviewed and the items are approved or rejected by a moderator. It's not as easy as it looks. There are millions of people out there to don't crop their pictures, don't submit pictures/stories in fantasy/sci-fi genre or their stories aren't submitted in html, not to mention the hundreds of images and stories that are copied.
Sometimes the queue moves slowly because we all have real lives too. Some mods are having babies, others are getting married, while most of us are in school dealing with classes and finals. We try our hardest, but sometimes it just can't compete with the number of new tickets submitted daily. I know personally, I've tried to attack the Wyvern's Library queue when it reached 100 items. By the time I got it down to 90, 10 new tickets had been submitted and I was back to where I started.
If we didn't review each ticket by hand and accept or reject the items, there would be a lot of yuck on Elfwood. It would turn into your average gallery where anyone can post anything. I like the policies Elfwood has in place and I believe it helps to keep Elfwood at a higher quality than most other online galleries. So, ANONYMOUS, I stick my tongue out to you. If you don't like Elfwood, go somewhere else.
Sincerely, *Miss Sassypants*"

| 21 Apr 2006 | Chris A. Jackson | Hey Sassy! Thanks for dropping my my site. Nice to know I live up to your discerning taste in literature... heh heh... Seriously, however, Cheese Runners is done, and out in an audio book format only. In fact, the sequel Cheese Rustlers is finished as well, but not quite in the audio stage. Go to my site if you wanna give a listen... Just download the MP3. Also, if you're into digital art, you should go to my personal deity of art, Noah Stacy, and check him out. In fact, go to www.jaxbooks.com and have a look at the Weapon of Flesh cover... All digital photo montage... very cool... He is raw talent personified. Cheers! The Cheese Man... Brie TheCheeseGirl O´Reilly replies: "I'll be sure to stop by as soon as I can." | |
| 8 Sep 2006 | Glo 'the Bug' Bowden | Though the ticket queue is frustrating, I have to agree with all that you said to anonymous. I like elfwood because the work is quality. Here's a suggestion -- maybe the queue would go faster if people would only post stuff that matched the guidelines! -_-' Not that I haven't been guilty of forgetting to crop time and again. How can you tell if a piece has been plagerized? -- just curious. You guys seem pretty good at catching it -- I've only seen one picture that looked copied and I've been on elfwood for a while now. Brie TheCheeseGirl O´Reilly replies: "Haha, you must have REALLY wanted to avoid laundry if you read even this page. And yes, the queue would go much faster if all of the users followed the rules. No worries though, I even forget from time to time." | |
